Karrar Al-Azzawi is an Iraqi-Norwegian filmmaker who lives in Norway. He graduated from the Norwegian TV School, with BFA in Film Directing. He works as an independent film director as well as working at Integral Film and High & Low Production. His vision is to contribute to changing the world by fostering greater understanding and solidarity between people.

“Baghdad on Fire” is Al-Azzawi’s international debut film which has had its world premiere at CPH:DOX 2023 and was nominated for the FACT:AWARD as well as DOK.horizonte Competition at DOK.fest München. The film was shown on Al Jazeera, BBC Arabic, NRK, DRTV, and Aftenposten TV. In addition, he is working on a documentary film called “Dreaming Souls” which tells the story of two girls with Down Syndrome, one girl from Iraq and one from Norway.
A 5-year journey across many countries during the asylum process allowed him to experience and document life as a refugee from "behind the scenes". Raise awareness; is the main motivation behind his various successful photography exhibitions and film projects.
During his five years in the asylum process, he made the short film ’’Just Crumbs’’ (2016) and organized international photography exhibitions called “Forgotten”, in several European countries with the aim to raise awareness about the refugee situation around the world.
